Massage Types

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a targeted therapeutic approach that aims to identify and treat specific areas of pain or dysfunction. Whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, muscle injuries, or general discomfort, remedial massage uses a combination of techniques to address the underlying cause and promote healing. My approach is personalised to each client, providing a blend of techniques to meet your specific needs.

Remedial Hot Stone Massage

Remedial Hot Stone Massage combines the therapeutic benefits of remedial massage with the soothing warmth of heated stones. The heat helps to soften tight muscles, improve circulation, and allow for deeper, more effective pressure without the discomfort often associated with deep tissue work. This treatment is ideal for those experiencing chronic tension, stress, or simply needing a deeply restorative experience. It offers both muscular relief and nervous system support, helping you unwind while still addressing areas of tightness and dysfunction.

Deep Tissue Massage

For those seeking deep relief from muscle tension and chronic pain, deep tissue massage is designed to work into the deeper layers of muscle. This massage type uses slower strokes and firm pressure to relieve tension, improve circulation, and promote relaxation. Deep tissue massage is particularly beneficial for clients dealing with persistent tightness or pain in specific areas.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

This is a gentle, rhythmic massage technique designed to stimulate the body’s lymphatic system which can support detoxification, reduce fluid retention and boost immune health. It’s particularly beneficial after illness, surgery, or injury and can also help manage inflammation and chronic swelling. Whether you’re recovering from a procedure or simply looking to support your body’s natural healing processes, MLD offers a calming yet powerful way to restore balance and encourage recovery from within.

Relax and Recovery Massage

This restorative massage is designed to support your body’s recovery from physical fatigue and stress without the intensity of deep tissue work. Using light to moderate pressure, it calms the nervous system, eases muscular tension, boosts circulation, and helps your body reset after periods of exertion or overwhelm. Whether you’re recovering from training, navigating a busy schedule or feeling the effects of ongoing stress, this treatment helps you bounce back faster and feel more like yourself again.

Some of my techniques include;

trigger-point-massage.png

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy targets tight spots within muscle fibers that cause pain and tension. By applying targeted pressure to these points, I help release muscle knots, relieve referred pain, and improve flexibility and range of motion.

myofascial-release-massage.png

Myofascial Release (MFR)

Myofascial release focuses on the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles and organs. Using gentle, sustained pressure, this technique helps relieve tension in the fascia, promoting pain relief, increased range of motion, and overall muscle function.

cross-fibre-massage.png

Cross Fiber

Cross-fiber massage involves working perpendicular to the muscle fibers to break up adhesions, scar tissue, and restrictions. This technique is especially beneficial for injury recovery and improving the mobility of tissues, enhancing flexibility and reducing pain.

stretching-massage.png

PNF & MET

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) and Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) are techniques that use stretching and muscle contractions to improve flexibility and joint mobility. These techniques are highly effective for enhancing range of motion, restoring function, and supporting injury recovery.

IASTM

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (IASTM) is a targeted technique using specialised tools to release tight fascia, break down scar tissue, and improve mobility which is ideal for stubborn tension or old injuries.

cupping-massage-therapy.png

Cupping Therapy

Cupping involves placing cups on the skin to create suction, helping to release tight muscles, increase blood flow, and encourage relaxation. It’s a great complement to other massage techniques, providing a deep release and helping to alleviate pain.

sports-taping.png

Sports/Kinesio Taping

Taping supports muscles and joints while promoting natural movement. It’s designed to reduce discomfort, improve mobility, and aid in recovery by encouraging circulation and reducing strain. This versatile technique is suitable for anyone experiencing muscular or joint issues, whether from everyday activities or physical exertion.

Percussion Therapy

Percussion therapy uses a handheld device to deliver rapid bursts of pressure to muscle tissue, helping to reduce soreness, improve flexibility, and promote relaxation. It’s a great option for those looking to relieve muscle tension quickly and effectively.
